Department of Harbour Waterway and Coastal Engineering

Department ofHarbour,Waterway andCoastalEngineering: The Department was established in 2017. There are currently 8 faculty members,including 2 professors, 2 associate professors, 4 instructorsand 3 master tutors,and all professional teachers have doctoral degrees. The department has a laboratory area of 500 square meters, and the total value of instruments and equipment is more than 5 million yuan. It forms a supporting system of teaching and scientific research conditions from on-site observation, high-performance computing to physical model testing.

The department has successively carried out relevant researches around the development of major strategies in the southeast coastal area, completed a batch of original scientific research results, and won 1 second prize for scientific and technological progress at the provincial and ministerial level, and 5 outstanding paper awards from the provincial and municipal societies.

In the past five years, teachers in this department have undertaken more than 50 national and provincial-level related funds and projects, more than 20 millionyuan in research funding, published more than 30 SCI papers, authorized nearly 8 invention patents, and participated in the compilation of 5 norms.

The department has established a talent joint training mechanism with famous domestic universities such as University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tianjin University, Dalian University of Technology, East China Normal University, Sichuan University, Xiamen University, South China University of Technology, and formed a close scientific research partnership.

In the future, the department will continue to work hard to cultivatestudents’talents. In terms of scientific research, the department aims at the major needs of coastal engineering science and regional development, andwork hardto become the frontier of the region and the backbone of solving major scientific and technological problems.

In terms of social services, the department will become an important think tank for regional development and a research and development base for complete sets of key technologies for major projects.
