Introduction

College of Harbour,andCoastal Engineering(CHCE),JiMeiUniversity,was originated from Vocational Technical, JiMeiUniversity.TheCollegeof Engineering and Technolo of Jimei University was established in 2004 as a result of the merger of theXiamenInstitute of TechnologyandVocational Technical, JiMeiUniversity. In order tohighlight the "Industry andMaritime" school-runningpolicy, serve the major initiatives of the "Belt and Road" and the strategic deployment of a maritime province,theCollegeof Engineering and Technology merged with the majors of Geographic Information Science and Environmental Engineering to form theCollegeofHarbourand Environmental Engineering of Jimei Universityin July 2019.

Forfurtherhighlightingthe marine characteristics, marine disciplines rely on engineering disciplines, with comprehensive interaction and in-depth integration, and truly form the school-running pattern of the Ocean College.In April 2021, the College ofHarbour and Environmental Engineeringwas renamed the College of HarbourandCoastal Engineering.

The CHCEoffers fourundergraduate programs: Engineering Management,Harbour, Waterway and Coastal Engineering；Environmental Engineering；and Geographic Information Scienceand these studies lead to a Bachelor Degree.TheCHCEhas 21 professional laboratories, including BIM laboratory, hydraulic laboratory, environmental monitoring laboratory, remote sensing and photogrammetric technology laboratory, with 8.5 million teaching equipment and a total laboratory area of 1,860 square meters.The college and some companies have jointly built a number of off-campus practice bases that have achieved remarkable results.

The CHCEhasamunicipal key research and development platform,"Xiamen's CoastalCity Pollution Control”, and“Ecological Construction Key Laboratory" water treatment research center, environmental engineering research institute, geographic and national conditions monitoring research center and other research institutions.TheCHCEactively carries out foreign exchanges and cooperation and social services, and expands the innovation of maritime disciplines and service industry capabilities.

At present, CHCEhas a qualified teaching and administrative staff of approximately 60, including 45teachers (7professors and 25 associate professors, 13instructors,), the proportion of senior titles accounted for 71.1%.37teachers having a doctoral degree, the proportion of a doctoral degree accounted for 82.2%.The proportion of PhD faculty ranks among the top in the school.There are currently 1,054 full-time undergraduates in the CHCE.The average employment rate of our graduates hasremained above 98%.

In the past five years,the CHCE’s teachers have published more than 90 papers in academic journals at all levels, including 40 SCI/EI articles, 6 monographs, and 10 patent applications; 3 national-level scientific research projects, 22 provincial and ministerial-level projects, the social production project involving 9.58 millionyuan, and participated in a number of national key laboratory open fund projects and Fujian Provincial Department of Education fund projects.Besides,9 teachers received provincial and school-level excellent teaching achievements awards.

The CHCEwill further highlight the characteristics of "engineering and ocean" running schools,with the goalof building a double first-class university and serving the high-quality development of the society, fully implement the party's educational policy, and firmly grasp the direction of socialist school.In the long-term school-running practice,CHCEadhere to the principle of “establishing the school with the spirit of Jiageng, and fosteringstudentswith honesty and perseverance”.CHCEhas always been committed to the development of discipline, the upliftment of faculty competence, the improvement of teaching facilities, and the enhancement of teaching quality and educational levelto cultivate more outstanding talents and make greater contributions.
